Herdboar - 5/11/2014 10:11 Minnesota had a big, well announced, "crack down" on distracted driving last month. 500 tickets given out state wide during that campaign. Is this a success? I live on a paved rural highway with straight, clear area with not much traffic and no intersection near. I still see people looking down towards what I assume to be a mobile communication device, as they drive by. 500 tickets statewide in a month? That is a complete total failure. 50,000 maybe a short ways to a success. But then, the cops are the most distracted drivers on the road, so how would they see a distracted driver? If I had 20 cops lined up in my driveway, I could keep them busy all day giving out back to back tickets for distracted driving. If I get time later this spring, I should just sit out there next to the road in a lawn chair with a couple video cameras for a couple hours and put up a video of how many there really are. 500 tickets should have been per cop in a month. IMO. |
