We had done business and had become fairly friendly with a woman.....big-city dweller..... out of state. We knew we had several differences of outlook on several things, but could still learn from each other and enjoy some time together. Until the day we got an email link "inviting" us to celebrate the birthday of her housecat by donating to HSUS. I nearly stroked out. Replied to her email and shared how offended we were that she would use our supposed friendship to support that group and what it stands for. She maintained that she had no idea, that was where she'd adopted her cat from, and was trying to pay it forward so others could enjoy a rescue pet. Told her she might want to check into the political leanings of the groups she chose to give her hard-earned income to. We're not so friendly any more.
