If you are in the 28% or higher tax bracket and self-employment tax is around 15%, you are saving 43% or higher for every dollar you spend and write off under sec 179. Of course you are deferring taxes. You then worry about next year........ next year. You also may want to consider the kind of year you might have that next year. If, you are expecting less income for the next year (As many gloom & doom $3 corn and $9 bean folks are saying) it makes prefect sense to make an extra purchase or two.
