Subject: Get the knives from Clarke

The problem with JD knife rolls is that they are designed wrong. The knifes mesh and never open up to let the stalk in, that is why they wear out so fast and don't work after the edge wears off at the bottom of the roll. Look at picture 1 and 3 for examples of JD knife rolls.

Picture 2 is an example of a IH knife roll. The knives are opposing and while rotating the close and open allowing the stalk to be moved further up the head, thus utilizing much more of the knife area. And as already stated the knives are reversible and adjustable to your liking.

Our cornhead is a 853 IH that is 30+ years old and does a better job chopping stalks than the neighbors year old JD head.

Hope this helps
