the "critics" of the keystone pipeline don't know what they are talking about

1. it is CANADIAN OIL not USA oil

2. if it does not get sent down the Keystone it will get sent west in a new pipeline and exported anyway as a RAW product IE crude oil

3. it is too expensive for Canada to build a refinery on their west coast and to move the other products that come from refining crude oil besides gasoline and diesel

4. if the Keystone is not built the USA will not get ANY benefit from refining a CANADIAN raw product using USA infrastructure and workers nor will the USA get any benefits from the jobs exporting it (loading, tugs, supplying ships and their crew needs like food)

5. if Canada builds the pipeline west and exports the RAW/CRUDE product that is it end of story they will put that into long term contract with the buyers and the USA will most likely NEVER have a chance at that oil at any price because at that point the pipeline is built and the delivery contracts are signed

the "critics" of Keystone think that they can back Canada into a corner and that Canada will just capitulate and continue to sell that oil for less than world market prices because idiots in the USA decided to block a pipeline based on enviro wackoism and total and complete lack of understanding of who's oil it is and what the options for that oil are and they will be the first fools to complain if that oil is ever desired by the USA, but the USA is unable to buy it because it is shipped and contracted to others as a RAW good while the USA could have been adding value to that product with USA infrastructure and workers and doing so in the area of the country that is the best equipped to ship those refined products to the most markets in the USA (as well as export customers) ad thus the USA will have first dibs on that refined product supply should the market materialize for it

1. Candian oil will never be exported from Canadian ports on the west coast. Indian tribes in Canada have put a permanent stop to that. The Chinese have already tried that.

2. Keystone pipeline oil will never used in the USA. The oil will be exported as refined products.

why would it never be used in the USA?

just because that makes for a great argument against the pipeline?

if it is sent through the USA, refined in the USA and at the point of distribution in the USA that reaches the highest number of consumers for refined products there is no reason the USA can't bid for it like anyone else

again some might believe that Canada will be held captive or that the USA can prevent tar sands oil from being exported either raw or refined by killing the Keystone, but anyone that says that is simply lying and they can sit and watch as Canada finds a way to export that product to anywhere that wants it and probably using a method that will make it much harder and more expensive for the USA to ever have any chance at that crude

Canada is simply not going to let the USA pay well under world prices for tar sands oil that is expensive to produce and refine and they will 100% find a way to get world prices for that oil period and even if they export 100% of it I would prefer the USA and USA refineries get those jobs than some other place in the world

the only long term chance that the USA ever has a chance to even get a bid on that oil will be the Keystone (or some other pipeline) period
