Soutwest Ks.

We have had a real windy spring so far here. Several days of 60 mph winds.  Some of my neighbor's ground has been blowing every time the wind picks up.  I finally called him the other day and asked him what he intended to do about some of the ground he took out of CRP and planted to wheat that consequently failed and now has no cover.  He finally showed up with a furrowing rig and will help for awhile.  He stopped in and talked to me about it.  He is a young man and he made the statement that he thought the high winds were mostly over for the year.  I told him they were just starting and if it is like last year it will be almost until the end of May before things calm down.  I really don't think any of us learn much from history and the lessons that we as farmers should've learned from the Dust Bowl era.
