West Texas
I've not been around the 7140's much (had an early 7110) but what I do know of them they pull better and are easier on fuel then the Deere. (the 7110 was anyway)
Both should run well past 10.000 hrs before needing anything IF they have been took care off.
On the 55 you need to watch the waterpump weep hole and the front axle pins and bushings. If those pins haven't been greased regularly and ate the hole out then it will cost some $$ to get it bored and re-pinned.
At one time we had several here that ran well over 10.000 hrs with no major problems.

Personally I'd go with the one that you have the best dealer for in case you need parts. And you will need parts no matter what color you run.
