your idea should work.
the reason the cattle will come to the bunk is for their treat once a day:
molasses ( sugar ) goes along way towards an animals heart...well stomach too.
assuming your talking a protein pellet...they'll like the taste of that too, Plus probably have an instinctive desire for a higher pro feed.
corn is corn.
