| So the patience is virtue thing can lead to some crazy anxiety. For the most part now that the snow has melted the heifers are doing a great job on their own. I created my own little rule that I would rather have a live baby and get dirty than wait and wonder. Of course this can create a new set of issues. I have had two that I thought were past the point of doing it on their own. So I gave them assistance by hand with a few pushes from mamma. Once the calf was partially hanging out they expelled what looks like about of gallon of fluid from their nose and mouth. So my questions is how do they not drown/ suffocate especially when we give them an extra hour or two? Where is that fine line? | |
