Stearns County, Minnesota | I was on the local cemetery board, but have been off for about 5 years. When the old part of the cemetery became full, we laid out additional lots in a new area. This was done by a landscape architect, that specialized in cemetery layouts. The lots were sold as individual burial plots. One area was for upright monuments, and each lot was 39" by 10 ft. The price of that lot was $375. The non-upright monument (flat stone markers) part of the cemetery, the lots were 39" x 8 ft., and were priced at $275 for a full vault burial. Another area was laid out for cremation burials. These lots were 24" x 30", and you were allowed only a flat stone marker, 30" wide. These lots sold for $200 each. Two sets of ashes could be buried in any of the above setups, with only one stone marker. If a couple wanted 2 vaults, they would need to buy two lots next to each other, with one stone marker. No spreading of ashes was allowed; they had to be buried. |
