Ontario's middle east | The problem with watching that this far out is its not likely to translate back to your neighbourhood. Until everyone gets there head around the fact that we need a pipeline this train thing is gonna be an expensive PITA. Put yourself in your local elevators position for a minute. If you are gonna buy those cash forward contracts and hedge it with futures, are you going to be more aware of the opportunity or the risk in that basis position? Keep in mind that some of these guys just got burnt on some (all ?)of this years bushels because of run away freight costs. I guess if I were trading that market, I would need to own cheaper basis to take that risk. I thought Tara made some good comments on this last week. | |
