But it is hard to appreciate the change in acres in the context of the 300 million total crop acres. I took the liberty of recasting your data in a delta format. Notice how year to year wheat and d/c soybeans seem to be related but over time they diverge.

I think the take away is the last column on the right, '13-'06 where you can see the big winners (corn & both soybeans) as well as the big losers (upland cotton, hay, wheat & oats). I hadn't even thought to consider oats.
