East Central Kansas | Myself, I don't feel that I can risk being self-insured, especially being involved in a high- risk occupation such as agriculture. I don't want to risk my future, my children's, or especially that of my brother's (farming partner) family on the probability that I or a member of my family won't suffer a debilitating or incapacitating injury or illness that racks up 100's of thousands of $ of medical bills (if you can't work, payments are meaningless). Saw recently on here, that unless you have at least $1,000,000 of readily accessible assets that you are willing to part with, being self-insured is questionable. Personally, I am not willing to risk that much of my family's assets. If you have that many assets that you are willing to risk, why are you even concerned with the meager penalties assessed by the ACA?
