SW Saskatchewan | One thing to remember is that propane absorbs energy to change to the gaseous phase meaning that the temperature of the tank will drop.
If you draw from the tank you may find that the outside temperature doesn't have to drop to minus 40 to cause the tank to quit yielding gas. The gas yield from any tank is proportional to the temperature until at -40 the gas yield = 0.
When branding cattle in those 70-80 degree days in the spring we have found we need two 100# tanks and two tiger torches-at full draw a torch fill lower the temp of the propane enough to limit yield.
Although I guess a person could use a variation of the old wood fence post branding fire and just throw the propane bottle there - just kidding, don't try this at home!
