Sounds like where I was a couple of years ago. Day cab is nice because of visiblility and overall shorter and easier to handle. With your low miles I don't think air bags are necessary and are one more thing that can have a problem. A good steel trailer should serve you well. You say easy miles so 11 liter should be adequate. I've been happy with 350 horse Detroit and ten speed.
