Franklinton, LA
I agree with this poster. You can book a variety of tours from several locations in the French Quarter. The street car trip and Canal Street Ferry are nice and inexpensive. The WW II Museum, Old US Mint. Aquarium of the Americas, swamp tour, cemetery tour, plantation home tour, etc. will be nice. A tour of the port on one of the larger river boats would be something different. The French Market, River Walk and Old Jax Brewery will have your lifetime quota of gift, tee shirt and souvenir shops. Copeland's, Mike Anderson's and Acme Oyster House will have good food at reasonable prices. I can recommend some other restaurants if you would really like to help the local economy! Also, be careful leaving the crowded tourist area in the daytime and DO NO LEAVE this area at night.
