That is great. That is the kind of technological breakthrough we need. But isn't that kind of like turning corn into ethanol? So one issue is the cost of producing it. Will it cost $25 or $200 to synthetically produce oil? Then we still have to refine it. Will the greenies come up with figures that it takes more energy to produce the algae than what it returns in oil? Seems like we have been down a similar road once before. Maybe we will have subsidies to get the "slime produced oil" industry off the ground. I'm all for this kind of technology. We will probably need a lot of similar new discoveries till we find the right one or ones that meet our energy needs for the future. But it is kind of de'ja'vue also. Hope they get it to work, it is economical, and the oil cartel titans don't end up owning it. John |
