SE ND | I'm not saying that things can't be taken. Nothing is truely safe from confiscation. Just the fact that with a few clicks of a mouse your life savings could be altered, personally, makes me want to do what I can to protect my hard work.
Land could be confiscated just as gold could be as has been in the past. More likely to me is that the government would implement some sort of windfall tax, primarily on gold if it goes parabolic. Back when gold was confiscated by FDR, the people trusted the government. Not so much today, so I would expect stiff resistance from the folks.
