I disagree about the cost per acre needing to be similar.
We buy big machines because its cheaper/acre to run them. Small machines cost more/acre.
If you cant do it for the going rate you should charge more.
Charge per hour because you know the difference between good beans and bad beans cutting.
If you dont really want to do it you should charge more to make it worth it.
If you really dont want to do it then dont.
Just give him a number, if he doesn't like it he can find someone else or do it himself. You dont have to feel bad for him, he had all year to figure this out.
