Subject: RE: Anybody else ready to quit RR beans?

Just the opposite here, we went to all RR beans this year. We don't like paying the tech fees any more than anybody else and the glysphate doesn't seem to kill as well as it used to but "here" at least it's the only thing we've found that's more than mildly effective against waterhemp. In our no-till 15" beans about 90% of the time we have been getting by with one post application of glysophate after using a late fall or early spring pre-emerge product. We used up the last of our Canoply XL this spring and the Canopy EX we used last fall was pretty disapointing so we are going to have to come up with a new system for next year. With the Canopy XL we could usually hold off post spraying until about a week before the beans canopied and it was rare to have to come back with a second post application. Last year with our conventional beans we made three trips over everything and four over some of the acres and we still couldn't keep the beans clean. We used to think that the RR beans had some yield drag but the last couple of years we saw things go the other way and we think it's because all the research money is going towards the RR beans since they hold a huge majority of the market.
