I'd start chopping now and supplement the cows with it. My neighbor is back grounding some calves and stated running out of grass 3 weeks ago. He had me come over and chop a wagon load to supplement the calves. When he ran out, I went back and cut another load. He's selling them tomorrow. It's a lot easier to control their intake that way.
