Subject: Re: Corn prices going forward

How much corn was actually sold at $7.50 and up ? I saw grocery ads from our local chain(7-10 stores) all last year had pork loin 1.99/lb. Chicken thighs and legs $1/lb. and some kinds of beef roasts and asst'd steaks for $2-3/lb. pork shoulder was $1 /lb. several times. It's no wonder livestock is often unprofitable. The prices paid by the packers are the problem. As for livestock profit being taken away by the increased corn price due to ethanol, in 1998 I had the barn full of hogs I sold for 12 cents/lb,corn was $1.75 that didn't work real good either.
