Had similar experience in soys 5 years ago. Talked to Ext agent and crop consultant and figured it to be lightning. Three years ago had a similar experience but this time a neighbor saw the strike and the hit was directly over an underground phone line which promptly took out the modem on the computer. Darn it. So this incident is not a rural legend.
