Thanks Jeff, It is quite interesting to see just how much corn is still in the dough stage. I just came from some fields of 92 day corn planted the second week of May that is still in the milk. The very cold May and the very cool July has really slowed down the corn crop here in the northern tier. And that's despite the fact that August has been decent corn growing weather.
It is really truely surprising. It is also somewhat comforting to know that what you are seeing in your own fields is reflected in the regional data. It makes you begin to think you're not crazy after all. Maybe we're not the "lunatic fringe" after all, just the "fringe".

Jeff, maybe you should send a copy ofyour map to the people in USDA who publish the crop progress report. And tell that it is "farmer recommended".
