From what I have been told in the seed industry they are pushing for higher populations and bigger and deeper kernels. Have never heard anything about multiple ears. That is just what I have been told by my contacts. Seed companies always talk about higher yields, in my opinion they will do what makes them the most money which is push for more traits and higher population.
Maybe this is the problem...
