South East SD
When we need to have two or more bulls in a pasture we always try to have a young one and older one. We were putting the same age bulls in the same pasture and all they did was fight and we would end up with one that got hurt. We have two pastures that only need one bull and this year it really bit us in the butt. In one pasture the bull was working but bad and we never caught it. We turned the two pastures together and the other bull started breeding the open cows, now what a mess we have 30 cows that just finished calving last week. Now we need to do something with the pairs not sure what yet. So that fixed use we are going to run two bulls for 25 to 30 cows. We feel its cheaper in the long run.
