Subject: RE: Spring wheat yields

SW Saskatchewan
Not much spring wheat in western SK- all durum and pulse - canola acres appear to have retreated some from past years.

Central and eastern SK has a lot of spring wheat and canola - rare to see a field of durum wheat or barley- a significant amount of soybeans through central Sask and Manitoba. Manitoba corn looks good but SK is droughting, heat units favor lighter soils but the H20 is short to seeing a thick stand through to harvest-seen some irrigated corn that shows signs of N shortage.

Spring wheat I have seen is showing significant leaf disease, some still flowering and I wonder about weight and quality concerns from midge and fusarium.

Flax has made some acreage comeback.
