Did you ever consider the possibility that the cattle market needs to adjust to the new reality, if it is in fact a new reality?  There are several possible places for adjustment which do not involve reducing production or demand, or lowering grain. 

1.  Calf prices can go down. 

2.  Fat cattle prices can go up.

3.  Non-crop land can go down. 

I think the current market is becoming more ingrained in the system.  I'm not sure hoping for it to fail is a recipe for success.
