Eastern Iowa | It seems to take along time to get the beef market in a position where everybody (cow to fat cattle) is making some money. There is allot of pain and red ink. Around here the big operations that are left have deep pockets and they will remember what made their pockets so deep, (the rebound effect of low prices). I will continue to eat beef, pork or poultry for nearly every meal. We may underestimate the consumers willingness to pay for food, maybe they do value good food more than plastic imported junk. I do fatten about 60 of my own calves every year, for now anyway. | |
