I've got mine on the front of the hood on the JD 8760 and it seems to work fine there, tho I haven't tried any other locations. This is for an EZ-steer application. I just silicone glued two 1/4 inch thick pieces of flat metal strap on each side of the crease on the hood and shimmed them at the front a little so they were level.
