Little River, TX
During the Ancient days the only home Air was the infamous Swamp Cooler. The same for Barber shops and most restaurants. They worked well when the humidity was 50% or lower.

Ten years later the AF had me in Roswell, NM and there ALL air conditioning was the Evaporative Cooler. In Roswell they worked well, too good as a matter of fact. We would turn the things off at night when we went to bed.
There were a few homes with refrigerated air. Those homes the static electricity that was really something. In Roswell we always had static electricity during the winter but with the swamp cooler static electricity was not a factor. That and the electric bill for air conditioning was a LOT higher.
In Roswell we had to use new evaporation pads each season. By the seasons end the pads were rock coated.

It was after I joined the AF that my folks bought Window Air Conditioners.

That old house now has Central Heat and Air, and cost $450/month in the summer.

But at least now Mama is happy.

I have some bermudagrass ready to cut for hay, but will hold off cutting for a rain possibility later in the week.
