East Central Arkansas | They should be ripe when the first curly pigtail closes to the melon dies. Also roll the melon over and it should have a white color where it was on the ground. That should work most of the time but I just brought some in that wasn't good ripe yet. One the pigtail was dead but it wasn't white on the bottom but the other was white on the bottom. These were a younger row of melons that I really didn't think had had the time to get ripe but my indicators said they were. Probably something to do with the late planting and hot weather. | |
