Son got stung on his foot by a stingray on our Florida trip a few years back. He probably stepped on it and that was its defensive reaction. The cure for that was hot water - just as hot as you can tolerate - it breaks down the proteins in the venom. And make sure the piece of the stingray spine is removed. Not hijacking the thread, just a fyi for others.
