Put ground beef in crock, then cabbage, onions and potatoes. And of course add some seasoning. I like spicy seasoning salt and pepper along with some garlic salt. Be careful though to not add too much salt.
I also add a jalapeno and some bell pepper sometimes.
You can do the same thing with carrots instead of cabbage. Add a can of cream of mushroom and leave the peppers out.
