well mark i'm not going to entirely disagree with you, but a downer and a foundered steer are entirely different.we have butchered several foundered steers over the years,and it was pretty darned tasty.had a local cattle feeder 30 some years ago tell me the same thing you posted above,couple years after that the bank took his farm cattle and everything.
