NW Iowa | ....and she has been dealing with health problems for several years and after going gluten-free and having it help, she is going to experiment with non-gmo, no antibiotics, no hormones, etc just to see if it'll help. (NOT organic)
She called me because last fall we fed out some pigs at home and gave a bunch of pork to them, and is asking me if we could grow some out in the way I described above. I'd have to make our own non-gmo feed. Non-gmo corn is available, but my real question is what could I use to replace the crude protein in soybean meal? non-gmo soybean meal is both expensive and not readily available. We talked about alfalfa pellets, but the crude protein is far less than soymeal.
