Subject: Discussion on grazing calves.

MN
Long story short, but I am looking into grazing calves on pasture. I currently have sheep, and we are, unfortunately experiencing foot rot issues with the flock. I would like to rotate the sheep to a different pasture next year, and graze some calves next summer. I have approximately 60 acres that would be available to graze calves on , possibly could have access to more. I also use portable electric fencing and rotationally graze my sheep currently. Would do likewise with the calves. Now for the questions. What is the best breeds to buy for grazing? When is the best time to buy? What is the best weight class to buy? What kind of gain could I expect? Is it necessary to creep feed? I don't have a lot of experience with cattle, but have dealt with sheep, so maybe calves are easier? haha. maybe Jim, or Ben can chime in here? thanks.
