out some, make em rustle for a living some ( that's how they're designed by God ).

SELL the dairy quality feed to another dairy.

Feed those beef cows waste feeds.

heck ground cornstalks and with a touch of seep is a complete beef cow ration ( they'll even get to fat on it ).

Why keep the beef cow year around?
perhaps just buy thin young side broken mouth pairs, short wean and pocket those calves ( $1,000 per pair out of the dry areas, 200 to 250 wt calves on em ).
give mom another 30 to 60 days of cheap feed after weaning and sell her fat to a packer.
