western iowa,by Denison | Jim if you ever get a chance try to get some harvestore back issue;s-I'm not promting harvestores but they had some really good articles on operations just like yours-There was one guy that was takin care of 70 cows and feeding the calves out on a 60 acre farm-of course he had a harvestore-but anyhow he had a pull type chopper and I think his goal was to try to put feed in his silo 8 months out of the year and feed it to his cattle-he also worked in town,chopping was faster as he didn't loose his crop to the weather! | |
