Little River, TX | George, the key is to have a coulter in front of a sharp knife. This way the roots are cut and do not pull out. Neighbor uses a packing wheel to close the slot I like a closing disk.
For years I pulled an old Clark applicator with Yetter drops. I like 42" spacing. Neighbor now applies my AA and his big tractor, and long tool bar has him finished in less than a day, while with my short tool bar, and need to refill the mounted tank it took me 3 days.
This clay soil likes to crack with dry weather, and now the soil cracks where the knives had run. Nothing special about that, But you want to apply the AA in the same pattern as you run the hay equipment, if you want a smooth(er) ride.
With the old Clark applicator I did not NEED a cold flow the AA ran through the hoses as a liquid, when using above 300 lbs/A. | |
