Wet the slats. Put misters on timer and just keep wet for a few days. Put feed on the solid part of floor untill they figure it out.
But unfortunatly when the weather gets hot your not going to stop it from happening. They will lay where they are most comfortable. Unless you keep the misters running all the time. Then quess what, that fills up your pit.
