There is a really handy (and free) set of Excel worksheets that the ARS unit out of Ft. Collins put together. You can keep track of operations, by field, by year, if you go to

Click on "AgSoftware" and at the bottom of the list is iFARM Recordkeeper, you may have to register with them before downloading which is just your email address for updates I think. They have both a dryland version and an irrigated version, the only difference is the irrigated version lets you record irrigation dates and amounts for each field too. The deal is neat because it's fairly integrated, you have several setup sheets to list your fields, legals, FSA#'s etc, a page for tillage, chemical, operators, bins, etc, and the entry sheets tie it all together.
