Subject: RE: My 18 1/2 year old daughter drops a bomb

Wallis, TX

Not to downplay or belittle her choice, but,,,,, she does realize she will likely go overseas to some 'hotspot' where the bad guys have guns and real bullets right?

I say this because a young girl my daughter graduated with joined.  I didn't think she was 'the type' and when she told me and I was surprised.  The conversation went something like this.

I joined the Army.

Really?

Yea, I'm gonna be MP.

Really? You gonna stay stateside then?

No, I'm going to Iraq.

You do realize there is a war going on there, right? (this was a few years ago)

Yea, but I'm an MP.

I explained to her that the 'bad guys' shoot Americans, doesn't matter, as long as you come from here.  The look on her face was that of a little puppy that just got whacked with the newspaper for misbehaving and has his head cocked and looks bewildered.  She really didn't realize that whe could be a target, and I'm sure the recruiter didn't go into those details.
