Most of my stuff lives outside but I'll tell you my square baler *NEVER* is allowed to get wet. Not even dew. On the flip that means no washing but I blow it off with air.

I follow a forum on compact utility tractors on a regular basis. Some of those guys are really adamant about never washing their tractors. They only use an air compressor to blow them off. They claim that washing gets water in bearings and such and ruins their equipment. I laugh every time I see one of those guys. I guess they don't realize their tractor probably set on a dealers lot in the rain and snow for 6-8 months. Water pools and stays in places until it evaporates a lot longer than washing and running the equipment in a few days to keep them dry.
