Subject: RE: JD 9350 Grain drill setup for soybeans

North central North Dakota

I had the actual John Deere plastic covers that I covered everyother opener with.  Opened the cups at least one notch.  I put some seed in and then did some trials on the gravel in front of the shop to test spacing and ultimately seeds per acre.  The picture is from some pinto beans that I tried.  Not sure if setting is correct since at one time I put on a slow down kit - different sprocket to go 1/2 rates on canola.  Back then I was getting my soybeans in small bags so it was easy to see if I was putting down right amount after doing a few acres, then adding some bags.  I also used peat based innoculant.  Later one I tried the liquid but had bridging problems.  I also took off one press whell so I could always tell where the end of the seeding was on drill since if you block of every other opener, it does not come out right.
