Our 2590 does this as well and has since it came to the farm brand new. Apparantly there is a way to check if the powershift is going bad, can't remember the procedure but have read it on AgTalk here once.

We have our 2590 since new. Has 4500 hrs. Has had a little bit of work done to the PS but never anything that required the tractor to be split. think just some filters and a few O-rings and a transmission flush. We have been lucky. Sounds like the PS is the weak link on those tractors.

for their time, the cab on those 90 series Case was WAAAAAAAAAY nicer to run and ride in the 30 and 40 series JD tractors with the post in the middle of the windshield and no room for a lunch kit in the cab. Sit higher. That being said, the Case are worth 1/2 to 2/3's the money that a comparable JD of the same vintage and hours is.
