Subject: Re: Greasing the Drawbar

Paxton, IL
Used to grease the drawbar and pin all the time. If the tool sits pretty level on the drawbar then it really doesn't seem to be a big deal. However, some of these tools with the hitches that pivot and rest on the rear tip of the drawbar have really worn out some of my drawbars in the past.

Last fall we upgraded 4WD tractors and when I went to pull the pin to unhook the ripper, I couldn't get it out. Had to beat it up from underneath with a hammer. The pin was sized exactly for the tractor drawbar, and the grease attracted dirt and got packed in super tight.

Trying to the poly hitch savers this year. we'll see how they work. It is nice to not have a greasy mess back there though.
