From your comments I would say that 20 gallons would get down through the rye better to get at the weeds that are under it. I would also think that a higher rate of the Power Max might help. Like maybe 28 oz. You did not indicate if you use any AMS or not, but that sure helps it a lot of cases. The problem now is that once the plants are stunted it is much harder to get them to take up any kind of chemical. Nozzle size and speed will be determined by nozzle spacing and will not have as much affect as rate of chemical and gallons of total mix per acre.
