Strathcona, mn
The way I see it is I have $65000 worth of application savings plus chemical/fert savings per year by doing it myself. I feel that I have to work at justifying a full time farming job. Spraying is by far my biggest money saver on the farm. I get to pay myself 3-5k a day to work.... I don't have a 100k sprayer though. We apply all of our own fert which allows better timing, supply, etc logistics than waiting for someone else to show up. Plus, it helps keep my full time employee busy during the otherwise down times.
