rupert - 4/19/2013 08:14 It seems from my investigating the money saved isnt from the application cost. It is more from being able to buy products alot cheaper. There is money to be saved on doing your own application. There is BIG money to be saved by shopping around on chemicals. Coops need to get their head in the game or they will continue to lose sales to the cash/carry type places. This is especially true in NW Iowa. If they can't sell chemicals at a competitive price with Hefty's, Borchers, etc they need to figure out what it is that their competitors are doing and get with the program.
As the older guys retire and charge big $ rent to the new tenant, the new operator will be much less obligated to purchase from the local coop so that he gets his dividend payment 20 yrs down the road. | 
Hire it done or do it yourself???
